July Article Answers Received

The following people will receive credit for turning in  answers to the July article:
Pat Archer, Ninfa Bontes, Jennifer Castro, Nancy Cullen, Cheryl Guardino, Fides Hester, Margaret Lakoma, Tina Luckett, Cathy Marquez, Sharon Oliver, Mary Oskielunas, Terry Peters, Theresa Rodriguez,  and Laurie Tomsa.

Great answers from everyone!  I would like to share the following from Jennifer Castro's response to the question regarding nutrition and cancer related fatigue.

Good nutrition will help pt. with CRF feel better and have more overall energy.  Estimated calorie needs for a person is 15 calories per pound of weight, if weight is stable.  Example is a person weighing 150 lbs. needs approximately 2250 calories per day to maintain weight. If  pt. is losing weight, need to add 500 more calories per day so pt. will need 2750 calories per day. At least 8 cups of fluid per day will prevent dehydration. Fluids can include milk, water, juice, broth, jello and other beverages.  Try to avoid fluids with caffeine.  Estimated protein is 0.5-0.6 grams of protein per pound of body weight.  A 150 lb. person requires 75-90 gram of protein per day. Vitamin supplements can provide at least 100% recommended daily allowances for most nutrients.  But vitamins cannot substitute for adequate food intake.

GOOD JOB JENNIFER!!

Good job everyone!
