There will be six posts this year, each post will have a selected reading that will be followed by 2-3 questions. After each posting, your answers need to be sent to
melissa.luebbe@ctca-hope.com . It is VERY important that your responses include your full name, the unit you work on, as well as contact information. Each response should be written in a professional manner and include a minimum of three complete sentences. To receive full credit you must also respond to the discussion question on the blog and comment on someone else's comment. When you are blogging, please remember on-line courtesy and HIPAA! Another important point to remember is that there are no wrong answers. The questions will ask you to use your nursing experience and critical thinking skills. The questions also offer you the opportunity to practice teaching points that can be used in your practice.
To receive Clinical Ladder credit for Journal Club this year, you must complete the questions and blog for all six posts. The first Journal Club article will be posted in October, followed by posts for November, January, February, March, and April. This year for the months of December and May, I invite you to forward any creative writing or poetry that you would like to share. There will be no credit given for these submissions, just an opportunity to say you have been published!
Practice
- Everyone can practice signing in and blogging about the following question. Once each month's assignment is over, would you like to have everyone's answers posted to a share site?
Greetings! This is Theresa Minniear, Clinical Research, at X1863. First, thank you to Melissa for organizing this club! The on-line format is much appreciated. To answer your question, I am ok *without* the individual responses to the questions being posted, at the month's end. These are general homework-type queries that we all equally answered. It seems like it would be repetitive and a lot of work to post what we already should know the answer to (if we did the HW right). I like the current format whereby the one question that everyone posts during the month is a free-text response that is individualized.
ReplyDeleteChristi Ables IR, x1517
DeleteI agree with you Tina. We are doing the same questions so it seems as though it would be repetitive to post everyone's answers.
Tina Luckett, Radiation Oncology, ext 4183. I agree with Theresa. I do not feel like it is necessary to post all of the answers at the end of the month. Thanks Melissa!
ReplyDeleteDebbra Tyson, Radiation Oncology, ext 5633: I too, feel posting individual answers to the questions would be redundant. However, it might be interesting to see the most common response.
DeleteAngela Roth Care Management I also agree that we do not need to post the answers either.
ReplyDeleteVictoria Rihn, Stem Cell Inpatient Care Managment, x6476. I agree with Theresa, Tina, and Angela. I look forward to this years articles. Last years were great and very informative.
ReplyDeleteElvia Powell Radiation PCT ext 4183. I'm looking foward to this year's articles.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Wise Radiation PCT ext 4183. I agree with Tina and Theresa. I am looking forward to read this year's articles. Thanks Melissa.
ReplyDeleteJoan Koral Radiation x 4183, I am new to this so I am not sure about posting. I do not want everyone's answeres posted.
ReplyDeleteGail Arai, Care Management x.5638. I agree with all the above postings. I do not need to see the answers posted. Thank you Melissa for your hard work with this Journal Club.
ReplyDeleteI believe that all postings should be able to be viewed.
ReplyDeleteMary Keenan-Martin, RN
Radiation Oncology Dept ext 4127
I don't believe that most of us woud feel the need to read all of the answers, as the answers are found in the content of the various articles.
ReplyDeleteDebra Seymour Care Management X1660. I don't believe it is necessary to post everyone's answers at the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteDebra
Martha Vazquez, Infusion Center XT 6200. I agree that we do not need to post everyone's answers at the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteKim Hudson SCTU X1521 I don't feel it is necessary to repost all replies. It can get monotonous and we are all pretty much on the same page anyway. Thank you Melissa for all your efforts with Journal Club!
ReplyDeleteI think its unanimous. :)
ReplyDeleteBy that I mean, no need to repost answers. :)
DeleteJennifer T. Castro SCTU Care Manager
ReplyDeletei agree that we do not need to post our answers.
Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteWhen will the first article for journal club come out?
Thanks,
Amy Lange
Samantha Aldridge, RN / SCTU/ Care Manager, ext. 1569
ReplyDeleteI think that all the posts should be able to be viewed by those that want the option, but it is not a necessity for me personally. Sometimes, it is an opportunity to reflect on information that others have posted. Additionally, there may be something mentioned that may be useful in the future; and having access to that information on demand is beneficial. Thank you.
No,
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is necessary.
Thanks Melissa for your work on making Journal Club happen each year! I look forward to the articles. I don't feel it necessary to post everyones answers.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone! while I can appreciate the time and though each participant puts into their answers, I do not feel it is necessary to post these answers.
ReplyDeleteChristine Betz Infusion RN, ext. 6200. I do not feel it is necessary to post everyone's answers.

ReplyDeleteBob Ford, Surgery: Since a Journal Club is seen as a collaborative effort; I feel all the answers and comments should be posted. Nurses with varied backgrounds see situations and responses differently and we, as a profession may not always agree, but we can always increase our world-view.
